1. Project name: 10,000 t/a high modulus low shrinkage (HMLS) polyester cord fabric.
2. Undertaking unit and location: Jiangsu Qunfa Chemical Co., Ltd.
3. Profile of undertaking unit: Jiangsu Qunfa Chemical Co., Ltd. is a large-sized enterprise held by the State as well as a high & new technological enterprise in Jiangsu Province, specialized in manufacture of framework materials for rubber and tyres. The main product—nylon-6 dipped cord fabric is among the leading positions in terms of product quality and production capacity in the industry in China, with annual output of 30,000 tons. Other products include: HMLS polyester dipped cord fabric; rubber assistants such as vulcanization accelerator NS; chemical fiber assistants such as dimethyl-5-sodio sulfoisophthalate (SIPM), trimethyl phosphate; high vacuum brazing products series such as intercooler for automobile, and oil cooler; pressure vessel; and superfine powered materials, etc.. The company boasts its strong ability in new product development and scientific & technological innovation. It keeps good cooperative relations with universities, colleges, academies and research institutes both from home and abroad.
4. Project description and market prospect: The production of radial tyres in China grows in high speed from 2001 to 2002, and many multinational and local tyre factories build new radial tyre project or enlarge their existing production, resulting in production capacity of radial tyres up from 229 million pieces in 1999 to 425 million pieces in 2002 with growing rate of 36%, in which 90% are steel-belt radial tyres. The development of radial tyre industry is certain to greatly stimulate the demands for framework materials used in radial tyre. Currently, framework materials used in the rubber industry are four types, steel wire, polyester, nylon and high-strength rayon. Because it has such advantages as high-modulus, fatigue-resistance, and low heat shrinkage, etc., HMLS polyester cord fabric becomes the best framework material to make steel-belt tyre in China, therefore enjoys bright prospects.
5. Investment and benefits: For this project, investment for fixed assets is RMB 198 million
yuan with one year of construction term.
